The Power Mac 8500 and 8600 were Apple's performance mid-tower machines for 1995–1997, popular with digital video professionals because of their dedicated video output and the AV capabilities inherited from the 8100AV. The 8500 at 120 MHz was the machine that made desktop video editing without dedicated hardware plausible for the first time.
